The Victoria Clipper is the only ferry running from Seattle to Victoria. And it's passenger only so once you get there you'd have to take cabs, buses, etc. It's also quite pricey. This time of year a round trip ticket's a $145 per person. You'll get to Victoria in about three hours.

Whenever I go to Victoria I take the ferry from Tsawwassen, BC - which does take cars. It's a beautiful ferry with a great restaurant at the stern that has an amazing buffet. You can dine and watch for whales and dolphins. Love it. This ferry costs $90 round trip and you'll pay under $20 each extra for passengers round trip. It takes about two and a half hours to drive from Seattle to Tsawwassen and the ferry takes an hour and a half. So this trip will only take you an hour more than leaving from Seattle AND you'll have your car so you'll save money on cab or bus fare.

I'd recommend taking a ferry to bainbridge island first and then driving to Port Angeles and taking the ferry there to Victoria...it's alot quicker.

Another alternative, if you are not bringing a car, is to fly Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Juneau, and then take the ferry to Skagway. If you are short on time, that would be the fastest way to get there. You may be able to take a small plane with a commuter air service or "air taxi" company from Juneau to Skagway, but do this only if the weather is really nice. When the weather is nice, it's a beautiful trip and the view is fantastic. If the weather is cloudy, rainy or windy, it's kinda scary and not worth it.

If you have lots of time, I would take the ferry from Bellingham, and stop along the way. You can get a ferry ticket that allows you to get off the ferry in a town and catch another one in a day or two. The ferries have staterooms, but you can sleep in a sleeping bag with a sleeping pad in a special covered deck called the solarium. You can't cook on the ferry, but you can bring your own food, or you can eat in the cafeteria. The scenery is great, the same view that the folks on the cruise ships see. For sure, stop in Sitka and Juneau on your way to Skagway. The other towns are nice, too.
Buy or borrow the Lonely Planet guide to Alaska for more info.

After Skagway, you could (if you are bringing your car) drive to Whitehorse, Yukon, and then up to Dawson City, and then west into Alaska and north to Fairbanks and then south to Denali National Park, then south more, past Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula (Seward, Homer) and then back to Anchorage, then to east to McCarthy or Valdez, (you can maybe take a ferry from Seward to another town and drive from there) then north to Tok and back to the Alaska Highway.

There is a book called The Milepost that's published every year. It shows most of the campgrounds, hotels, etc. on the Alaska Highway and in Alaska. Well worth buying if you are making a road trip.

You cannot take a boat directly from Seattle to Skagway. But if you drive up to Bellingham WA (about a hour 1/2 north) you can catch the Alaska marine ferry system from Bellingham to Skagway. It's about a 2 1/2 day ride up there. Lots of trip planning info at the Alaska state website below. Reserve early, I hear the boats for fill up with reservations many months in advance.
Have fun!

You can actually drive the whole way to Skagway via Canadian Hwys 1 and 97. I've driven from Salt Lake City into British Columbia before and it is a very pretty drive. Once you get past Vancouver, cities quickly become few and far between, so drive safely, fill up often, and keep an emergency kit in your car.

I've also been to Skagway. It's a cute little touristy town, and the city seems to only wake up when the cruise ships come in. If you want to go to Glacier Bay or Juneau from here, then you will have to take a boat or ferry.

Here is a link to show you a possible route between SLC and Skagway:

It's going to vary with every cruise. I like to have extra time for debarkation snafus and sightseeing, so my preference would be to schedule later. Last week we disembarked a cruise in New Orleans that was scheduled for 7am, and it was nearly 11am by the time we were able to leave the ship. Such experiences lead me to schedule later flights. However, I agree that you'll probably be okay as long as your debarkation goes smoothly. It's not a terribly long ride from Pier 91 out to SeaTac.

You should be ok as long as the ship arrives on time. The cruise ship should prioritize disembarking to help people make their flights. Be sure to talk to the customer service desk on the ship when you arrive to see how to make sure you are not at the end of the list for going through customs and disembarking.
